Our Story & Mission

Built from a conviction that the senior care industry had failed to keep pace with what was possible — and that someone had to do something about it.

How We Began

A Founder's Frustration Became a New Standard

Nathaniel Radley had built three successful technology companies before he encountered senior care. When his grandmother required residential support in 2013, he visited facility after facility in the Portland area — and found them uniformly disappointing. Institutionally designed, technologically stuck in the past, and philosophically resigned to a diminished version of later life.

He spent two years studying the industry — visiting exemplary facilities in the Netherlands, Japan, and Denmark; consulting with gerontologists, architects, chefs, and technology designers. The question he kept asking was simple: why does premium senior living not look and feel like premium anything else?

Radley Place opened in 2015 with 64 residents and a staff-to-resident ratio of 3:1. Within a year it had won the Oregon Health Authority's Innovation in Care Award. Today it is widely cited as a model for what senior living can aspire to be.

What We Believe

Our Core Values

Four principles that guide every decision we make — from how we design a room to how we hire a care worker.

🕊️

Dignity Above All

Every resident is a full person with a life story, preferences, and rights. Our care begins and ends with genuine respect for the individual.

🤝

Family Partnership

We share care openly. Families are co-participants in their loved one's life here, supported by technology and a culture of transparency.

🌿

Whole-Person Wellness

Clinical care alone is insufficient. We attend equally to physical health, mental stimulation, emotional connection, and spiritual wellbeing.

🔬

Continuous Improvement

We measure everything, question everything, and act on what we learn. Good enough has never been acceptable here.

Radley Place leadership
Leadership & Governance

Privately Owned. Accountable to Our Residents.

Radley Place is owned and operated by the Radley Group, a private company with no external investors and no conflicting commercial interests. This is a deliberate choice: our only obligation is to the people who live here and the families who trust us with their care.

Our mission is clear: to demonstrate that superior design, genuine compassion, and technological sophistication can coexist in senior care — and to raise the bar for what families should expect.

We invite independent audits beyond state requirements and publish our quality metrics publicly on our resident portal. We believe accountability is not a burden — it is a privilege.

Licensing: Radley Place is fully licensed and regulated by the Oregon Health Authority.
