We know this decision takes courage. We'll walk every step of it with you — openly, honestly, and with your loved one at the centre of everything.
At Fernlea Plus, we don't see family members as visitors — we see them as partners in care. From the moment you first call us to the day-to-day rhythm of life here, we actively work to keep you informed, involved, and at ease. Our Family Care Coordinator, Lucia Torres, is your dedicated point of contact for everything.
Our secure online portal gives family members 24/7 access to care updates, activity participation records, meal logs, and direct messaging with the care team — all in one place.
Come and visit us — ideally with your loved one if possible. We'll show you around, answer every question, and have an honest conversation about fit and timing. No pressure, ever.
Our clinical lead will conduct a thorough, compassionate needs assessment. This forms the basis of a personalised care plan — built around the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
We'll support your family through every logistical step of the transition. Our welcome team makes sure the first day feels warm, familiar, and as stress-free as possible.
"From the very first phone call, Lucia made us feel like we'd already found the right place. She knew our mum by name before she'd even moved in. That kind of warmth is rare."
"Dad was reluctant to move at first. Within two weeks he was telling us about his new friends and the jazz evenings. I don't think we've ever seen him this happy — genuinely."
"The Family Portal is a game-changer. I live in Dallas and I used to worry constantly. Now I check the app in the morning and see photos of Grandma at art class. I feel part of it."
"The nursing team here is exceptional. When Mum's health declined, they communicated everything clearly and with such compassion. We never felt left out of decisions about her care."
Pricing depends on the level of care required and the room type chosen. Our studio apartments start from $4,800/month for independent living, rising to $7,200/month for full assisted care. Memory care suites are priced individually based on assessed needs. We're always happy to discuss financial options and can connect you with a financial advisor who specialises in senior care funding.
Yes — absolutely. Residents are encouraged to maintain relationships with their existing GP and any specialist consultants. We work collaboratively with external healthcare providers and can arrange home visits where needed. We also have our own on-call medical team for out-of-hours support.
We have no fixed visiting hours at Fernlea Plus. Family is welcome to visit at any time of day that works for your family. We ask only that late-night visits after 10pm are arranged in advance so we can support your loved one's rest routine. We never want a family member to feel like a visitor.
We support residents through transitions in care needs wherever possible — this is a significant advantage of our multi-level model. If a resident moves from independent living to requiring assisted care, or from assisted care to memory care, we manage that transition sensitively and try to keep familiar faces, spaces, and routines wherever we can.
Yes. We are fully licensed by Texas Health and Human Services (Lic #TX-3381) and subject to regular unannounced inspection. Our most recent inspection report is available on request. We have maintained an excellent regulatory record since opening in 2012, and we're proud of that.
We actively encourage residents to personalise their rooms with their own furniture, photographs, and treasured belongings — home should feel like home. With regard to pets, we consider small pets (cats and small dogs) on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the individual resident, room size, and neighbour sensitivities. Please speak to Lucia Torres about your specific situation.
The best first step is simply to call us or fill in the contact form on our Contact page. Lucia Torres or a member of our admissions team will get back to you the same day. We'll then arrange a tour at a time that suits your family, followed by a no-obligation consultation to discuss care needs and logistics. There's no rush and no pressure — ever.
Our Family Care Coordinator Lucia Torres would love to hear from you. No obligation, no pressure — just an honest chat.
