Two decades of caring for Colorado's seniors with warmth, expertise, and a deep respect for nature's healing power.
Eleanor Marsh spent twenty years as an occupational therapist in Denver's hospital geriatric wards. She was skilled at helping patients regain physical function — but it was what she observed beyond the clinical charts that changed everything. Patient after patient would recover well medically, then quietly fade. Disconnected from their gardens, their routines, their sense of seasons and beauty, they became shadows of themselves.
Her husband Thomas, a landscape architect who had spent his career creating healing outdoor environments for hospitals and schools, shared her conviction that something better was possible. In 2003, they purchased a four-acre property along Lakewood's western greenbelt and began building a community from the ground up — designed not around institutional efficiency, but around human flourishing.
Today, Lakeland View is home to 84 residents and a team of over 200 dedicated staff who share Eleanor and Thomas's original vision: that every person, at every stage of life, deserves to feel the peace and belonging of home. We've grown, but we haven't changed what matters.
Every interaction at Lakeland View — from morning assistance to end-of-life care — is guided by an unwavering commitment to preserving each resident's dignity. We knock before entering, we ask before assisting, and we never speak about residents as though they are not in the room.
Families are not visitors at Lakeland View — they are partners. We involve loved ones in every care planning decision, provide regular updates through our family portal, and create a community where families feel at home the moment they walk through our doors.
We believe wellness goes far beyond physical health. Our approach addresses the emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual dimensions of each resident's life — because a person who feels purposeful and connected is a person who truly thrives.
We never accept "good enough." Our team meets monthly to review care outcomes, family feedback, and the latest research in gerontology and occupational therapy. We pursue our Colorado DPHE quality certifications with pride and rigour, year after year.
Our mission is simply stated but deeply lived: "To provide nature-inspired, person-centred care in an environment where every resident feels the peace and belonging of home."
That mission shapes every hire, every building decision, every care protocol. When Eleanor and Thomas founded Lakeland View, they made a commitment that commercial pressures would never compromise resident welfare. That commitment holds today, more than two decades on.
