Moving a loved one into care is one of the biggest decisions a family makes. We're here to guide you through every step with honesty, warmth, and expertise.
At Lakeland View, we've always believed that the best care happens when families and care teams work together as true partners. You know your loved one in ways we never could — their history, their preferences, the things that make them laugh. We bring clinical expertise, a nurturing environment, and 24-hour availability. Together, we create something better than either of us could alone.
Families are welcome at Lakeland View at any time during our visiting hours and are actively invited to join care planning meetings, activities, and our monthly family dining evenings. We hold an open-door policy and always encourage honest conversations with our care team.
Visiting Hours: Monday–Sunday, 10:00am – 8:00pm. Out-of-hours visits can be arranged for family members travelling from a distance — please call ahead.
Our secure online Family Portal gives you real-time access to your loved one's daily notes, care updates, activity participation, meal records, and upcoming appointments — from anywhere in the world.
Whether you're a few miles away or across the country, you'll always know how your loved one spent their day, what they ate, and how they're feeling. Peace of mind, whenever you need it.
We make the process as clear and supported as possible. Here's what typically happens.
Come and see us. Walk the grounds, meet the team, and have a cup of tea. There's no paperwork, no pressure. We just want you to get a real feel for who we are and how we work. Most families visit two or three times before making a decision, and we encourage that.
If you decide to proceed, our Head Nurse Dr. Priya Sharma and Social Worker Fiona Walsh will conduct a thorough care needs assessment — usually in your loved one's current home. This shapes their personalised care plan and ensures we have everything ready for a smooth arrival.
We set aside the whole morning for move-in day. Your key worker will greet you, help settle in personal belongings, and spend the day with your loved one to ensure they feel welcomed and at home. Families are invited to stay for lunch and are never rushed to leave.
"The team at Lakeland View didn't just care for my father — they genuinely liked him. They knew his stories about his years as a park ranger. They brought him seeds for the garden. When he passed, the messages we received from staff were as heartfelt as those from family friends."— Robert C., son of resident James, Memory Care
"I was sceptical about any care home. My mother was fiercely independent and I couldn't imagine her anywhere that felt institutional. Lakeland View was something different. She calls her room 'my little cottage.' That says everything."— Susan M., daughter of resident Doris, Assisted Living
"What impressed me most was the staff turnover — or rather, the lack of it. The same faces have been there for years. My grandmother has real relationships with her carers. That continuity means everything to someone with dementia."— Michael T., grandson of resident Alice, Memory Care
"Choosing a care home for a parent is agonising. I visited seven places before I came here. Within five minutes of the tour I knew. The garden, the smells, the way Eleanor greeted my mother by name on the second visit. I cried on the way home — with relief."— Carla B., daughter of resident Helen, Skilled Nursing
Our standard visiting hours are Monday to Sunday, 10:00am to 8:00pm. We actively encourage regular visits from family and friends — they make a real difference to resident wellbeing. If you're travelling from out of state or need to visit outside these hours due to work commitments, please call us in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate you. We never turn family away during a medical concern.
Fees at Lakeland View vary depending on the level of care required and room type chosen. Our Assisted Living rooms start from $5,200 per month. Memory Care and Skilled Nursing carry additional costs reflecting the higher staff ratios and specialist training required. We provide a full, transparent fee schedule at your first consultation — there are no hidden charges. We also have an in-house Financial Guidance Advisor who can help you understand Long-Term Care Insurance, VA Benefits, and Medicaid planning options.
Absolutely — and we warmly encourage it. Your loved one's room is their home, and we want it to reflect their personality and history. Residents regularly bring armchairs, small side tables, lamps, art, family photographs, and ornaments. We have maintenance staff who will hang pictures and help arrange furniture to suit the resident's preferences. The only items we ask families to check with us first are larger items of furniture, for safety and accessibility reasons.
Every floor has a registered nurse on duty around the clock. In the event of a medical emergency, our protocol is to stabilise the resident immediately, contact emergency services if required, and notify the designated family contact within 30 minutes. We have a close working relationship with Lakewood's medical facilities and maintain detailed, up-to-date health records on every resident. Families are never left waiting for information during a health event.
Depending on the level of care and room type you require, there may be a waiting period of between 4 and 12 weeks. We encourage families to get in touch early, even if you're not ready to make a decision yet. Joining our priority register is free, carries no obligation, and simply means we'll contact you as soon as a suitable place becomes available. Respite Care spaces often become available with shorter notice — please enquire directly.
Yes — our Respite Care programme is an ideal way to experience life at Lakeland View without a long-term commitment. A minimum stay of five nights can give your loved one a genuine taste of our community, meals, and activities. Many of our long-term residents started with a respite stay, which made the eventual transition into permanent care much smoother and less daunting for the whole family.
There are several ways we keep families connected and informed. Every resident has a named Key Worker who is your primary point of contact. Our Family Portal provides daily updates, care notes, and photo updates accessible from any device. We hold formal care review meetings every three months (or more frequently if needed) and always welcome a phone call or drop-in conversation with any member of the care team. We have a zero-surprises policy — if something significant happens, we call you.
Whether you have a simple question or you're ready to take the next step, our family care team is just a phone call away.
